2017 Audi A6 Review Jun 26, 2017 by Jet (Driver Weekly)
While it isn’t as well-known as its competitors, when drivers get inside the Audi A6 it can become a contender for their new midsize luxury sedan. The A6 stands up to the competition with elegant and classic styling combined with sophisticated drivetrains. The range of engines and five trims allow for plenty of customization. Just keep in mind that the Audi A6 hasn’t seen a full redesign since 2012, meaning it will likely get one next year. Because of this, those looking forward to a new generation may want to wait one more year. That being said, the 2017 A6 is still an excellent choice for an end-of-cycle purchase.
Looking at the Audi A6, you can’t tell that it is due for a redesign; the exterior looks modern and sleek with just the right amount of classic touches. It commands attention with assertive character lines that have a clean feel. The signature Singleframe grille gives the sedan some character while the optional full LED lights enhance aesthetics and visibility. There are even small stylistic touches, like the trapezoidal exhaust outlets, that remind observers that the A6 offers the height of polished luxury.
With the Audi A6, you will fall in love with its performance. The available Quattro all-wheel drive system will send power right to whichever wheels have the most grip, improving your performance and handling. The turbocharged TFSI engine has 252 horsepower and 273 pound-feet of torque to get you moving. Or you can choose a TSFI V6 with 333 horsepower or a 340-horsepower TFSI 3.0T competition engine. To further enhance performance, Audi used lightweight technology to improve braking distances, handling, and acceleration. One of our favorite features is the drive select system that lets you adjust the transmission, steering, and throttle responses.
The Audi smartphone interface includes Android Auto and Apple CarPlay along with internet radio, and the Audi connect app to give you plenty of ways to stay networked on your commute. The technology isn’t limited to infotainment; it also includes driver assistive and safety features, something that helped the 2017 A6 earn the status of an IIHS Top Safety Pick. Audio pre sense plus is just one of these systems, using visual, audible, and physical warnings for collisions so you can prepare for unavoidable collisions. Optical warnings and radar sensors keep track of your blind spots, or the Audi adaptive cruise control can keep you moving smoothly with traffic. The available top view camera system makes it even easier to park by showing you an overhead view of your sedan. There are even innovations you won’t find on most other models, such as night vision assistance.
If you enjoy the elegant styling and top performance, snap up a 2017 Audi A6 before the model refresh.
