2017 Lexus RX Review Jun 14, 2017 by Jet (Driver Weekly)

The 2017 Lexus RX is a luxury crossover that checks off all the boxes. It has eye-catching styling, solid power, an optional hybrid powertrain, and an impressive list of standard safety technologies, along with the refined interior you want from a Lexus. In addition to the base and hybrid versions, the RX is also available as an F Sport for a more athletic flair and sporty styling drivers will love.

SUV Versatility

Lexus

While the Lexus RX focuses on delivering luxury, it still has the practicality and versatility you expect from a two-row SUV. The RX is powered by a 3.5L V6 with 295 horsepower and 23 mpg combined (20 mpg in the city and 27 mpg on the highway). Nearly every single model has roof rails, which are sleek and enhance the model’s overall design while giving you extra storage space. The rear seats can recline in addition to their split and folding functionality to give you a spacious cargo area.

Luxurious Experience

Buyers will appreciate the premium materials such as Gray Sapele Wood paired with aluminum trim or the Matte Linear Dark Mocha Wood trim. The semi-aniline leather found throughout the interior has been dyed completely through instead of just on the surface, indicating that a higher grade of leather was used. The F Sport and 450h hybrid models also come standard with heated and ventilated front seats, letting you stay warm or cool in all weather. Other available features like the Touch-Free Power Rear Door make life easy. While most competitors’ systems require you to balance and wave a foot, the RX just needs you to raise a hand or even elbow by the Lexus emblem and watch the door open.

The F Sport

For those interested in the extra features of the 2017 RX 350 F Sport, it is definitely worth an upgrade. This model has exclusive styling, including a distinctive front bumper, lower and upper grille inserts, rear spoiler, and rear valance. The interior continues the trend of standing out with its aggressive command center. The F Sport has sport seats with extra bolsters that maintain their grip on you on all turns. Other interior luxuries include the perforated leather on the heated steering wheel and aluminum pedals, while the race-inspired instrumentation completes this model’s styling.

Technology That Can’t Be Beat

Lexus

With the 2017 RX, Lexus puts the latest technology at your fingertips. Opt for the Lexus Enform App Suite to enjoy access to the most popular mobile apps right on the RX’s center console display; it even includes natural voice recognition. The navigation system also stands out from the crowd as a 12.3-inch high-resolution multimedia display that has split-screen functionality and earns the title of an industry first. Factor in Lexus Enform Service Connect, the dual-screen rear seat entertainment system, and the plethora of safety technologies, and you won’t find yourself wishing for more.
