Pagani Huayra Roadster: The Hypercar We Wish We Could Afford Mar 27, 2017 by Cedric (Driver Weekly)
The Pagani Huayra is among the incredible hypercars that the average person will never get a chance to drive. Even so, our daydreams about the slick styling and specifications have been reignited after Pagani debuted the Huayra Roadster at the Geneva Motor Show.
Power You Will Love
The Huayra has a mid-mounted 6.0-liter AMG-sourced V12 with two turbochargers that release 700 brake horsepower plus 728 pound-feet of torque. This means that you can take the Huayra over 230 mph and get from zero to 60 mph in under 3.5 seconds. The Huayra Roadster that debuted in Geneva has an upgraded version of this engine, giving you 753 horsepower and738 pound-feet of torque. It also works with a new X-Trac seven-speed gearbox, a transmission that is as much as 40 percent lighter. The Roadster is also 176 pounds lighter than the hardtop Huayra from past years, further enhancing its performance. Those who have gotten behind the wheel of the Pagani Huayra say that it can be intimidating to drive at first, particularly if you aren’t used to that much power. It has excellent dynamics, a top steering feel, and brilliant ride quality.
Impressive Roof Design
We are very impressed by the Pagani Huayra Roadster’s roof, which lives up to its price tag. Those lucky enough to get one of these models will be able to pick from two roofs. You can opt for a detachable lightweight carbon option that has a central glass window that is very reminiscent of the Porsche Carrera GT. Or you can opt for a carbon and fabric roof that you can install or uninstall very easily.
Future of the Huayra
Closely following the debut of the Pagani Huayra Roadster, Pagani announced that they have plans for the next two Huayra models. We should see a new coupe version in 2020, and there are plans in the works for the Huayra BC Roadster. If you have the money to spare and are interested, you can place your order for the Huayra BC Roadster already, although we still don’t know when it will be available. The BC Roadster will use the Roadster that debuted in Geneva as its base but will have a “surprise” of some sort. The coupe will have nearly every single component redesigned or revised.
The bad news for those who were looking forward to driving the Pagani Huayra Roadster is the limited availability and tremendous price tag given the luxurious interior and refined engineering. The Huayra Roadster costs $2.4 million and only 100 units are being made, all of which are already sold.
